Mettler Toledo Weighing Equipment in Ghana
WeighTech supplies, installs, calibrates and services Mettler Toledo weighing systems across Ghana and West Africa - with engineers, test weights and spare parts based in Tema rather than a service desk in another time zone.
The equipment matters. Who stands behind it matters more.
Mettler Toledo is the name most Ghanaian buyers already trust when weight decides money - the weighbridge at a mine gate, the platform scale in a cocoa warehouse, the analytical balance in a quality control laboratory. That reputation is earned on build quality and measurement accuracy, and it is the reason the brand is specified in tenders across the mining, cement, food and pharmaceutical sectors.
But a brand name on a terminal does nothing for you at 6am on a Monday when the bridge reads zero with a loaded tipper on it. What decides whether that morning costs you an hour or a fortnight is something else entirely: whether there is a trained engineer within driving distance, whether the failed part is on a shelf in Ghana, and whether the person who quoted the system is the same person who answers the phone when it breaks.
That is the gap WeighTech fills. We are a certified and authorised Mettler Toledo distributor in Ghana, and every part of the relationship - specification, importation, civil supervision, installation, calibration and long-term service - is handled by our own team from our base in Community 10, Tema. A breakdown in Obuasi or Takoradi is a road trip for us, not an international support ticket.

Genuine equipment
Weighbridges, platform scales, bench scales and laboratory balances supplied as Mettler Toledo builds - not look-alike imports.
Factory-standard calibration
Calibrated to Mettler Toledo procedure with certified test weights, and documented for your auditors.
Genuine parts
Load cells, indicators and junction boxes replaced with Mettler Toledo parts, so a repair does not void the build.
Local engineers
Trained on the equipment and based in Tema, so a breakdown in Ghana is not a service call to Europe.

What we supply, install and keep running
The catalogue is wide, so the useful question is not what exists but what suits your site, your loads and the conditions the equipment has to survive. Tell us what you weigh and we will size it properly.
Truck weighbridges
Pitless and pit-type decks for mines, quarries, cement plants and haulage yards, with the load cells, junction boxes and terminals that belong to the build rather than a mixed-brand assembly.

Specified for Ghanaian sites, not a European brochure
Equipment that performs perfectly in a temperate warehouse can struggle here, and the failures are predictable enough that we design around them before they happen. Lightning season is the biggest single cause of dead weighbridge electronics in Ghana, so we fit surge protection on both signal and mains sides rather than treating it as an optional line item. Grid interruptions corrupt weighing sessions and ticket databases, so terminals get backup power where the site cannot guarantee supply.
Coastal humidity and salt air around Tema and Takoradi attack junction boxes and cable glands; harmattan dust works its way into anything that is not properly sealed; and wash-down in food and beverage plants destroys any scale that is not genuinely rated for it. We specify enclosure ratings and stainless construction against what the equipment will actually live in, and we will say plainly when a cheaper option is adequate rather than selling you protection you do not need.
Civil work matters just as much. A weighbridge is only as accurate as the foundation under it, and laterite ground that holds water through the rainy season will move a badly built pit. We supervise the foundation work and check drainage before any steel is set.

Calibration on a schedule
Accuracy drifts with traffic, dust and vibration. We set a calibration interval that matches how hard you use the equipment and hold you to it, so a customer dispute never turns into a guess.Read how our calibration service works.
Spares held in Tema
Load cells, junction boxes, cable and indicators sit on our shelf, so an ordinary failure is a days-long repair rather than a wait for a container.See the load cells and indicators we stock.
Engineers who know the build

Questions Ghanaian buyers ask us
Do you supply genuine Mettler Toledo equipment?
Yes. We supply equipment as Mettler Toledo builds it, not visually similar imports assembled elsewhere. If a quotation from us names a Mettler Toledo model, that is what arrives on your site, with the documentation that goes with it.
Can you service equipment we bought from someone else?
We regularly take over systems installed by other suppliers, including ones that have been out of service for months. The first visit is a condition assessment: we test each load cell, check the junction box and cabling, and tell you honestly what is repairable and what is past economic repair.
How long does it take to get parts into Ghana?
Common failure parts - load cells, junction boxes, cable and surge protection - are stocked at our Tema base, so an ordinary repair is measured in days. Model-specific terminals and non-standard capacities are ordered in, and we tell you the honest lead time when we quote rather than after you have paid.
Is a Mettler Toledo scale worth the price difference in Ghana?
It depends on what the scale decides. If it only tells your store keeper roughly how much is on a pallet, a cheaper scale is defensible. If it decides what you invoice, what you pay a supplier, or what a regulator sees, then the accuracy, the repairability and the availability of genuine parts usually cost less over five years than a cheap scale that drifts and cannot be fixed locally.
Do you calibrate to the manufacturer's procedure?
Yes - with certified test weights, following the procedure for the equipment rather than a generic sequence, and you receive a signed certificate recording the readings, the weights used and the engineer who performed the work.
Get a specification, not a sales pitch.
Tell us what you weigh, where the equipment will sit and what the reading has to prove. We will size the right Mettler Toledo system and quote it itemised - civil work included, nothing hidden.
